What is MAX-SERV?
MAX-SERV provides on-line access to the latest developments in Manufacturing Excellence and provides a rapid, convenient basis for comparing your own manufacturing plant against the known world best of a similar type. MAX-SERV will point out where improved performance may be possible, quantify the potential in terms of increased profitability and put you in touch with recognised experts who can help you to release the potential.
MAX-SERV is initiated as a Thematic Network project in Framework Programme V "Competitive and Sustainable Growth".
What does MAX-SERV offer for me?
MAX-SERV operates from a knowledge base of over 3500 evaluations of manufacturing performance, carried out all over the world. When you access MAX-SERV, you access this experience base and learn a lot more about your strengths and weaknesses.
MAX-SERV provides you with a rapid and convenient insight into just how good your operations are compared to the world’s best. The service starts at the level of a fully confidential self-evaluation, where you answer 10 specially formulated questions which enable your operation to be positioned approximately on our knowledge base. From this analysis, our system can assess whether your operations are good, bad or average. This automatic evaluation can be followed by two further levels of scrutiny at which we can pin –point in progressively more detail what needs to be done for you to become world class in all respects. More than this, MAX-SERV will also put you in touch with the best resources in Europe to help you carry out any remedial activities. You can learn more about our services by messaging info@max-serv.com or phone our call centre - contact details are contained in the 'contact us' section of our web site. We will be pleased to tell you more!
How can I join MAX-SERV Suppliers?
MAX-SERV Suppliers are selected based on their capability to deliver state-of-the-art technology solutions and services. You are welcome to email us at info@max-serv.com or phone our call centre - contact details are contained in the 'contact us' section of our web site. We look forward to providing further information.
Who is behind MAX-SERV?
The co-ordinator of the MAX-SERV project is VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. Benchmarking and Gap Analysis activities are lead by the Process Industries Centre for Manufacturing Competitiveness (PICME) in the UK and technology aspects are handled by a Europe-wide group of specialists, including AMT in Ireland, Tekniker in Spain and City University in the UK. The MAX-SERV network currently has around 20 technology suppliers across Europe - please see the 'members' section of our web site for details.
How is MAX-SERV financed?
MAX-SERV is financed by the EU under Framework Programme V "Competitive and Sustainable Growth".
What are the benefits for manufacturers?
Manufacturers benefit by accessing an independent source of expertise. As initial exchanges are by automated interaction over the Internet, your confidentiality is protected at the critical early stage. Once you decide to go beyond this point we can provide a service in complete confidentiality which is tailor-made around your requirements. An important aspect of the service is that MAX-SERV is independent of commercial pressures and our experts are truly independent, giving unbiased advice on what techniques will solve your issues.
Using an online, interactive approach, the MAX-SERV approach puts you in the driving seat whilst delivering a fast, accurate and progressive assessment of Manufacturing Excellence. You have the prerogative to drop out at any stage.
MAX-SERV will identify performance shortfalls and then access the most relevant solutions suppliers from across Europe to help bring about change. MAX-SERV will also oversee the development and supply of such systems, in order to ensure that delivery is in full - and at the right price.
What is Benchmarking?
Specialists have developed a set of common parameters which can be easily evaluated for any given plant and which provide a sound basis for comparison of the key aspects of manufacturing performance against any other similar plant. Benchmarking is the process of evaluating these parameters for any particular plant and thus comparing its performance against the known best-in–class. The process leads to a “Gap Analysis” and development of remedial actions to make up the shortfall.
Why should I use Benchmarking?
Competition in the manufacturing industry becomes ever tougher and on a world basis. Companies face increased pressure to bring products to market at a faster rate than ever before and achieve ever higher efficiency levels. There is no room for inefficiency, as this is reflected directly in the bottom line. Benchmarking ensures that operations are carried out at world-class levels and that there is no hidden slack in the system offering advantage to competitors.
